RUTH GREENFIELD LEGACY CIRCLE
HONORING RUTH GREENFIELD
A Pioneer in the Arts
Ruth Greenfield (1923-2023) was a concert pianist, teacher, activist, and important mentor to me since I was 7 years old. She had an extraordinary music career (which included studying with the storied Nadia Boulanger in Paris in the 1940s) and was deeply committed to social justice. It was this passion for equity that led her to the founding of The Miami Fine Arts Conservatory, one of the first integrated schools of the arts which provided my formative music experience and the inspiration for ELM.
Ruth’s work is chronicled in Instruments of Change, a film by Steve Waxman, which documents the founding of the conservatory and her impact on revitalizing downtown Miami through the arts.
ELM honors her memory and legacy through our Ruth Greenfield Legacy Circle. Please join us in honoring Ruth by considering a legacy gift through your estate or will.
