A NOTE FROM JANE

The work that we do right here in the Canal neighborhood is more essential than ever given the charged and challenging political climate facing our community. We remain steadfast as allies and advocates. By providing information and resources, and activating networks and partnerships, we aim to create a safe physical and psychological environment for the entire ELM family. We have developed a task force comprised of ELM administrative staff, teaching artists, our parent coordinator, and board members to address these critical issues and remain nimble responders to our community needs.

The new year brings truly exciting news. Thanks to the generosity of four lead donors, ELM has achieved a significant milestone - we have purchased a home of our own. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us on this journey. While there is still much work to be done to fully bring this dream to life, this achievement fills us with hope and determination. We have selected an extraordinary architect/contractor team who will lead us through the exciting phase of transforming our new building into a center of music, culture, and community.

Please contact me to learn more about our capital campaign, for a tour of our new space, and ways to get involved.

Enjoy this edition of News & Notes, and as always, feel free to reach out to me with any questions, ideas, or feedback.

Warmly,
Jane

A HOME OF OUR OWN

ELM alumni gather at our new home

A Center for Music and Culture in the Canal

On December 10th, thanks to the generosity of key ELM supporters, we purchased a home in the community. We are now working closely with our architect and contractor team along with our board to transform our new home into a full fledged music and cultural center where our students can practice, rehearse, study, relax, and our families feel safe and welcome.

Fun facts about our new home:

  • The building is 7,414 square feet on ¾ acre which is double our current space size

  • The building is two stories with views east to the Bay and west to Mt. Tam

  • There will be enough space for ALL of our students to rehearse together

  • We will have both indoor/outdoor rehearsal and performance space

  • Our academic programs will have dedicated space

Please contact me for a tour and to learn how you can support ELM.

ELM AWARDED GOVERNMENT FUNDING

Exciting New Grants Supporting our Lullaby Project

ELM is the proud recipient of grants from the California Arts Council, and National Endowment of the Arts (2-year) and the Marin County Office of Equity (2-year). These grants demonstrate the importance of the support, commitment, education, and community we provide for our students. ELM is now being recognized by and receiving multi-year government support at the local, state, and federal levels, which allows us to grow and bring our program to more students.
